Dear MPP Supporter :
The first 10 months of 2009 have brought an explosion of media interest in marijuana policy reform unlike anything I’ve ever seen. In fact, MPP has been getting its message into the news this year at roughly double the volume of previous years. That’s huge.
We’ve had more than a dozen major TV appearances, including popular morning news show "The Today Show," CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," and "The Rachel Maddow Show."
We’ve had so much media coverage that MPP’s Bruce Mirken was even quoted in The New York Times about how much press MPP is getting: "We’ve been on national cable news more in the first three months (of 2009) than we typically are in an entire year. And any time you’ve got Glenn Beck and Barney Frank agreeing on something, it’s either a sign that change is impending or that the end times are here."
Media coverage matters, because it means MPP is bringing our message about the need to end marijuana prohibition to millions of Americans – people of all demographics and political views.
For instance, when MPP’s Aaron Houston appeared on "The Today Show," MPP’s message reached more than five million viewers. And in addition to its interview with Aaron, the show even aired MPP’s ad about the need for the regulation of marijuana in California – in its entirety.
We’re able to do this because our communications staff is aggressive, professional, and skilled. But we need the continued help of supporters like you to continue to fund these sorts of successes.
Thank you for anything and everything you've done to help bring all this attention and success to our movement. If you'd like to help even more, please make a donation today so that we can continue with the onslaught of work that continues to pile up on our plates.
In fact, I hope you’ll consider joining MPP’s monthly pledge program. With reliable monthly gifts, MPP can ensure marijuana stays in the mainstream – which means a loud and louder clamor for lawmakers to change our laws.
This is an amazing time to be working on marijuana policy reform, and I’m glad you have chosen to be a part of this winning effort. Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,

Rob Kampia Executive Director Marijuana Policy Project Washington, D.C.
P.S. As I've mentioned in previous alerts, a major philanthropist has committed to match the first $2.35 million that MPP can raise from the rest of the planet in 2009. This means that your donation today will be doubled.
P.P.S. You can opt out of receiving fundraising mentions in the e-mail alerts I send you in 2009 by visiting http://www.mpp.org/2009optoutpreference at your convenience.
